The Brooklyn Nets announced that they have waived four
players, cutting the roster down from 20 to 16. Those players are Beau
Beech, Chase Budinger, Jorge Gutierrez and Egidijus Mockevicius.
No real surprises here, as the Nets needed to cut five
players before the start of the season, and none of the aforementioned
players seemed to have factored into their future plans.
Beech played in just 8 minutes through the first 5
preseason games. While he was certainly a fan favorite, he wasn’t able
to crack the preseason rotation. Mockevici
us also played just 9 minutes
of action, in one game.
Gutierrez played in three games, averaging just over 9
minutes per game, while Budinger played in four games, averaging 10.4
minutes per.
The Nets now have to cut their roster down to 15 before
the start of the season. They have one preseason game remaining, which
is this Thursday, at home, against the New York Knicks.
